Made in __ is a conceptual body-and-space installation informed by my experience of being born in Asia and raised within a predominantly Western environment, where questions of identity and belonging remain unresolved. The work explores the tension between origin and upbringing, challenging the impulse to categorise individuals by where they are “from.”

Drawing on the symbolic language of food, the project transforms the human body into a fortune cookie, an object often reduced to cultural novelty, using humour and irony to question assumptions about identity. By collapsing body, space, and cultural symbolism, Made in __ proposes that identity is not fixed by birthplace or geography, but continuously shaped through lived experience. The title references the familiar “Made in__” label, leaving the blank intentionally open to suggest that belonging cannot be defined by a single origin or location.
